Riggs Distler has been awarded a $43 million contract form one of the ten largest electric companies in the United States to install 200,000 solar panels on their utility and street light poles located throughout their electric service territory in New Jersey. This three-year contract also includes two one year renewal options exercisable at the client’s discretion. Approximately 60 employees will be assigned to this contract which began in November. This is the first project of its kind in the United States, the installation of small solar systems, generating approximately 200 watts each, and is a key element of this utility’s wide-reaching Solar 4 All program. The 80 megawatt program is aimed at doubling New Jersey’s installed solar capacity, which is already the second largest in the country. Once completed, the project will also be the largest pole-attached solar installation in the world.
